Usain Bolt is a Jamaican sprinter who holds the world records in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4 × 100 meters relay. He is widely considered to be the greatest sprinter of all time.

Early Life and Career

Usain Bolt was born on August 21, 1986, in Trelawny, Jamaica. He began his track and field career at the young age of 12. In 2002, he won the gold medal in the 200 meters at the World Junior Championships. Two years later, he won the silver medal in the 100 meters at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.

Olympic Success

Bolt's breakthrough came at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China. He won the gold medal in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4 × 100 meters relay, becoming the first person to win all three events at the same Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984.

Bolt repeated his success at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England, winning the gold medal in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4 × 100 meters relay again. He became the first person to win the same three events at two consecutive Olympics since Paavo Nurmi in 1924 and 1928.

World Championships

In addition to his Olympic success, Bolt has also won numerous medals at the World Championships in Athletics. World Records

Bolt holds the world records in the 100 meters (9.58 seconds),200 meters (19.19 seconds),and 4 × 100 meters relay (36.84 seconds). He set the 100-meter world record at the 2009 World Championships in Athletics in Berlin, Germany. He set the 200-meter world record at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics in Daegu, South Korea. He set the 4 × 100 meters relay world record at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, England.

Retirement

Bolt retired from track and field after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He finished his career with eight Olympic gold medals and 11 World Championships gold medals.
